About the team: On the e-commerce team, you will craft best in class, optimized digital experiences with Marketing, Product Management, and Design partners that span a full vertical slice, from UI to backend. The e-commerce team lives amongst a community of web development teams focused on digital experience. Each Agile web development team consists of 3-4 engineers, a Product Manager, UX/UI designer, and/or an Analyst. This year the team will: Level up our marketing site to support millions of views a day while delivering a high conversion, best in class experience through optimization testing Evolve web architecture to enable us to continue to scale exponentially Bring to life new and exciting business developments that make us a standard, global brand in providing pet wellness Compound the delightful experiences we provide to our highly rated products What you’ll do: You will lead engineers on your team while collaborating with cross functional leaders across Engineering, Marketing, Product, and Design to form best practices, processes, and decisions. Here’s a closer look at the day to day: Provide technical leadership for how we migrate from WordPress to a custom digital experience Write and review reusable patterns that enable your team to rapidly and continually evolve systems Coach your team through day to day technical tradeoffs Lead your team through discovery and delivery of challenging, multi-month initiatives that require synthesis of information across cross-functional Embark teams Collaborate with Product and Design to deliver a best in class product experience supported by your team Peer with Engineering Managers to grow your team’s skills by identifying challenging opportunities Foster a culture of consistent, high quality data driven execution amongst your team Inform the technical roadmap and architecture to enable our technology to support continued exponential growth Build strong relationships and contracts with teams that use your team’s services (e.g API consumers, internal tooling support, etc.) Requirements: At least a Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience 7+ years of professional web development experience as an individual contributor Expertise in: Building, maintaining and operating large-scale Ecommerce web applications Optimization testing CMS systems Custom online storefronts (billing, checkout, product catalog, inventory, etc.) Migrating architectures in an agile, phased approach DevOps processes, systems and tooling Developing, maintaining, and operating critical production systems Also, deep experience in one or more of the following: Frontend development with frameworks like VueJS, React NodeJS DevOps Data architecture Observability Distributed web applications Experience with: TypeScript with NodeJS and Vue A consumer-focused product company Managing multi-month, multi-person projects and collaborating with non-technical partners and stakeholders Excellent communication skills, both written (design docs, RFCs, system documentation, user guides, PowerPoint management reports etc) and verbal (leading and facilitating effective meetings, training, pair programming etc) Passion for dogs and genetics Interest in staying up to date with the latest technologies, architectures, and management skills What We Can Offer Dog-friendly office Perks tailored for dog lovers including subsidized dog-walking services and paw-ternity leave Startup perks with big-company benefits (401k match, commuter benefits, HSA/FSA) Competitive salaries, all-inclusive health care, and equity participation A flexible vacation policy along with paid maternal and paternal leave (for fur babies too) Fully-stocked office snack bar and regular office events New iMacs and MacBook Pros, or laptops running Linux Continuing education including attending conferences
